Noeleen McKeag "THE JOURNEY"
A Fine Art Photographic Exhibition-2025
This collection of work is an ongoing and growing collection of fine art photographic images inspired by the Steampunk Genre of portraiture and creating fantastical images by adding animals and objects it to the scene.
Noeleen is a portrait and wedding photographer with her love for portraiture being what set her on the path of discovery for this series of work. Having grown up, lived and worked in Ballarat and Western Victoria for the most of her life, Noeleen has been fortunate to discover many hidden gems, including old factories, abandoned sheds and historic homesteads.
All of these discoveries left her with a creative need to make something using these unique spaces to capture what is there and perhaps will not be there into the future.
Being able to combine taking photos of people dressed up in a Steampunk themed outfit at one of these amazing and mostly hidden locations was the initial inspiration for these art works.
Once the images were taken, Noeleen then wanted to create photographs that had an element of surrealism or fantasy in them. She experimented with making the portrait's look as if they were shot with animals in the scene, either sitting with the person or coming through a frame or appearing in an unlikely position, as you can see with the swan in the image "Reflective".
Noeleen continues to create these images using portraits that she has shot and animal images from her collection of photographs (along with a couple of stock images of elusive animals).
The newest images include outdoor locations incorporating disused stations and steam trains along with the interior of this hotel.

Thank you for visiting The Market Hotel and taking the time to view my Fine Art Collection of Photogaphic Steampunk inspired digital photographic art. I hope you enjoy discovering the hidden details in each image and seeing inside some of Ballarat's hidden spaces. The George Farmer building, Craig's Hotel and a couple of old sheds and stations featured in the images.
